Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Which facility is best for my special occasion?

A. The ideal choice of facility depends on the size of the group and preference for an indoor or primarily outdoor event (as well as proximity of a ceremony site). All the Meadows at Marshdale facilities have lovely areas for guests to mingle outdoors and include tables, chairs, and centerpieces for the inside capacity. (Inside capacities for each are: Red Barn 125, Meadowview Gathering Room 45, Grandview Terrace Room 36, Gate House "Garden Garage" 36). The Grandview Terrace and Gate House provide the most space for an outdoor event, while the Red Barn and Meadowview House work best for indoor gatherings.

For up to 40 guests...
The Grandview Terrace Room and Meadowview House have indoor space for a formal affair, causal meal or business meeting. The Gate House Garden Garage is decorated with trellised walls and scattered flower pots to link it to the outdoors, and provide shelter for food and mingling guests. The main level of The Red Barn comfortably holds a small group without feeling overwhelmed.

For up to 70 guests...
The main level of The Red Barn fits this size group well with room to move freely throughout the three levels. The Grandview Terrace Room allows for shelter for a ceremony or stand-up reception. However, for a sit-down meal of more than 36 guests at the Grandview Terrace, a canopy set on the upper terrace is recommended. The Gate House lawn provides space for an outdoor event of this size, but in the case of inclement weather, a canopy set in the driveway is recommended. (No tents may be staked in the lawn due to underground sprinkler systems.)

For up to 125 guests...
The Red Barn is best for groups of up to 125 guests and the lovely Mountainside Arbor ceremony site is nearby. The Grandview Terrace also accommodates this number of guests and provides a breathtaking view for a ceremony. If holding a reception, a rented canopy is required for the top Terrace.

For up to 225 guests...
The Grandview Terrace allows for a ceremony of this size while the Forest Edge provides space for a tent for a reception and view of the meadow.

Q.  Which house is best?

A. Both houses are lovely and provide overnight accommodations and space for group gatherings. If you are looking for privacy and room to spread out, the Gate House is the best choice. To sleep the most number of guests, and have an indoor area for events along with a large private playground, the Meadowview is ideal. They each serve a different purpose, and together create a destination for friends, family and guests before and after your event.

Q. What is included in the rental rate?

A. Tables, chairs, and centerpieces are included in the rental rate of all our facilities and houses, and a “building host” will be on the grounds during your event. Rental rates for The Red Barn is for a 6 hour time block;  the Grandview Terrace is rented by the hour (minimums apply).   An outdoor ceremony site fee applies for all venues, chairs included. Linens are available for an additional fee.

Q.  Can I bring my own food or have a caterer of my choice?

A.  We have a list of caterers that are familiar with the Meadows at Marshdale facilities and follow our guidelines. Food served at The Red Barn must be provided by one of the approved caterer from the "Suggested Providers." For events at other Meadows at Marshdale facilities, we strongly recommend that food and service be provided by a caterer on this list, but is not required. However, a "Kitchen Fee" will apply.

Q. What is the alcohol policy?

A. You may provide beer, wine and champagne for your event (limited hard alcohol may be approved), and may be served for a maximum of 3 1/2 hours. All alcohol must be dispensed by a licensed and insured bartender (provided by a caterer or bartender service). Kegs need to be contained in a tub. The sale of alcohol is not permitted and no alcoholic beverages may be served to individuals under 2l years of age. Open bottles may not leave the grounds. Renter understands that it is the Renter’s responsibility to assure that the dispensing of alcoholic beverages is in compliance with Colorado State Liquor Laws and will not hold the Meadows at Marshdale liable for any injury or damage.

Q.  What is the best time of year in the meadow?

A.  It depends what you are looking for.
December - March
provides the best chance for snow, but the days are often sunny.
The days turn warms in April but can sometimes be wet (either snow or rain) which begins the process of turning the meadow green.
May
reveals spring flowers, snow-capped peaks in the distance, and is chilly at night.
Daylight lingers in June as the wildflowers explode and short-lived thunderstorms pass through in the early evening.
The meadow in July is filled with tall green grass, warm days and pleasant nights.
The grasshoopers sing in August as the tall grass begins to seed.
September days are warm as the evenings temperatures begin to hint at the approaching of Fall.
The changing colors are brilliant in early October!
The long black nights in November reveal millions of stars. And, on occasion, a light snow will blanket the meadow.

Q.  Are pets allowed?

A.  Pets must be registered as guests of the Meadows at Marshdale and are allowed inside, only at the Meadowview House, or when participating in a ceremony. A pet fee applies.

Q.  Are any discounts available?

A. Since every season in the meadow is beautiful, we do not offer "off season" discounts. However, we do offer discounts for mulitple night stays in our guest houses. Additional discounts are available for mulit-facility rentals.
